This allows you to upgrade to the desired TurboTax Online version (except 1040EZ) and keep the tax information that you?ve entered so far. Then go to and select the online product you wish to use.ġ0. Before we go any further?DO NOT click Continue from this screen or you will lose your tax information. The Welcome to TurboTax Freedom Edition screen appears, and at this point, your information is still intact. On the Confirm You Want to Clear Your Return screen, select the option that says I understand that I will have to re-enter my information, and then click Clear My Return.Ĩ. From the Check your product choice screen, select the Clear my information and start over using Free File Edition option, and then click continue.ħ.

I found the solution in a blog someplace and it worked, not only that but it allows you to get their Basic version for $9.99 instead of $14.99. I asked for a supervisor while searching for the answer myself. I tried to downgrade to Basic.Īfter an hour on the line with tech support they finally told me you can't downgrade versions and that I would have to create a new user ID which means I can't import previous tax info automatically. I stupidly clicked the "Deluxe" link and started my return only to realize their "Deluxe" version isn't the one I normally used (cheapest).
